Black Lives Matter! The words shouted by millions of people all over the world in protest to the recent recurring incidents of unarmed black men being killed by police officers. From the 1991 beating of Rodney King to the latest outrage over the killing of Mike Brown, the world is finally saying “Enough is Enough!”
Queens emcee Simply Suade continues to raise inequality and injustice awareness with his new record entitled, “I Can’t Breathe”. Being a black male himself in America, it all hits home. He can truly identify and empathize with what has been going on. In the song, Suade also calls upon the black community to change the way we are with one another; stop killing and putting each other down all the time and start to protect and uplift each other. We scream in outrage when we’re killed by white police officers, yet we kill each other day after day like nothing. If we don’t respect or value ourselves as a people, how can we expect anyone else to?
“I Can’t Breathe” is a wake up call to the black community and the world! We have to fight for our lives; fight for that elusive breath of fresh air.”
