“K-Von, born as Kevon Smith, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 6th, 1994. Growing up, he never thought of himself as a rapper, but just a true fan of hip-hop. As a kid, Kevon listened to artists like, Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie, Lil Wayne, Ice Cube, and Nas. It was around the 7th grade when his older cousin got him into doing music. From then, K-Von realized the talent he had, and took it full force. In 8th grade, K-Von met who is now his former manager / producer, Big Curt. Curt spent a lot of time getting the young man’s sound and understanding of the music business together. It wasn’t much longer that K-Von was featured on a Cleveland, school tour w/ national, hometown artists, Machine Gun Kelly, & King Chip. By then, K-Von was already into his second year of high school when he released his first real project, “On My Grown Man Album.” The album featured ten original records produced by Curt. In 2012 he was booked to open up for some of the biggest names of today’s hip-hop/r&b culture. He’s performed at Bucknell University with Elle Varner (Refill). He was also asked through Toledo University from Compton California’s own, Kendrick Lamar to open for him at Toledo University. “Just stay you, and keep making real music. You remind me of a young J. Cole” said Kendrick. In November of 2012, he was also booked to perform with Jadakiss at Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Barack Obama’s campaign party. K-Von also takes time out to give back to the community. In the summer of 2013, He, along with Euclid Police Department city council held the 2nd annual “Back to School / Stop the Violence” cookout. They gave out free school supplies, food, and entertainment. There were over 200 attendees for the event. For Christmas of 2012 & 2013, K-Von and East Cleveland activist group, OPN delivered brand new toys to over 15 families a year throughout Cleveland, Ohio. January 6th, 2014, K-Von released his new album titled by his government name, Kevon Smith. The project has a lot of topics about his young life, as well as others around him. Including the ones he looks to inspire every time he writes a song, the youth of today. This album has earned him a spot in Cleveland Scene Newspaper for the second time as critics call him “A Wordsmith.” With his touchy song topics and story-telling lyrics, he definitely deserves that title.”
