A couple of celebrity fans were fortunate enough to be in the right spot during Monday night’s [July 10] annual MLB All-Star week homerun derby at Miami’s Marlins Park. Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid and Meek Mill were in the house and had to stay on their toes throughout the suspenseful competition because the shots kept coming their way.
Video taken from the cameras behind home plate focused in to capture a ball getting past the massive hands of the 7-footer, as he stretched to make a catch. Grinning within arm’s length was his Philly rapping friend. But while Meek came away with nothing to show, but a good time at The Clevelander nightclub, located in the left-center field section of the stadium, it appears that Embiid actually did snag a few souvenirs.
The Sixers big man posted several photos of him gripping baseballs from his seat. One image shows him bearing two balls. “And I keep on collecting Balls… #HomeRunDerby,” the later post read in its caption.
