Since beginning rap at 15 years old with countless projects released on various sites such as Datpiff, Tumblr and YouTube accounts, Chaz Ultra has remained a craftsman of songwriting and producing music.
From hanging out with his BASSment collective in and around Bridgeport, CT, smoking so much weed that his brain has literally developed differently, he cares nothing for politics. Nothing but the simple passion of creating quality, powerful music that he loves first. And it’s all he’s had to focus on since pulling out of a significant opportunity in college.
His first official mixtape/free album “Candyland”, released January 19, 2014 as a compilation of all of these feelings, taking you on a drug induced trip through being a late teenager in modern America, with all the perks, dark sides, and relationship struggles.
“Candyland” was released to local acclaim alongside multiple singles and music videos that can all be found on his YouTube channel (Chaz Ultra).
Chaz’s second mixtape, “Auto-Rap”, was released September 23rd, and the hype for this project has shown a significant increase in followers since “Candyland”, with features including all the BASSment members as well as Sikai, a Stamford rapper featured in XXL.
“Auto-Rap” was released to more local acclaim with multiple music videos following that garnered coverage on blogs such as YouHeardThatNew, DJ Enuff’s ThatsEnuff.com, and HipHopSince1987 among others.
Chaz’s unique style has brought him to sing, rap, and shout, melodically or not, embodying every song with his intense charisma and knack for creating fully structured, emotive music unparalleled in Hip Hop.
This is because Chaz’s music defines him as a person. You can hear that every song will reflect exactly who he is at the moment of recording. He accomplishes this not only by not writing words or melodies down but also only letting true sparks of inspiration dictate what the next line and what the rest of the track will become. His introspective mind makes every one of his musical decisions undeniably heart warming accompanied with a punk-rock, “fuck you” mentality. Chaz Ultra is headed on a path to becoming great and he will prove himself a worthy player in this game, it’s only a matter of time now.
