AJ Suede is a producer/emcee born in East Harlem, New York by way of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. His FREEMINDS Collective (FRMNDS Co.) was founded in collaboration with videographer Omar Jones, Owen Jones and Connor Brennan. The collective is a platform that promotes art and creativity with a DIY mentality and beer. With sample-heavy production inspired by a multitude of genres, Suede continues to produce every track in order to build every song from the ground up. His first project, Gold and Water (2012), combined hip-hop with dubstep, chillwave and jungle elements. The result was avant-garde approach to contemporary rap music. His second project, Gold and Fire (2014), is part 2 of a 4-part quadrilogy based on the elements water, fire, earth and air. Each element inspires a different style of production. With 5 music videos to accompany the release of Gold and Fire, the FREEMINDS Collective continued to build anticipation through quality audio/visual projects. Early 2015 saw the release of Gold and Earth, the 3rd project in the elemental quadrilogy. The first visual for “Watch Me Build a Pyramid” was independently released to critical acclaim. The second visual for “Necronomicon” features Canadian emcee Noah23 and Ohio emcee Blam Lord. Since the release of Gold and Earth in March, AJ Suede has taken a brief break from self produced projects in order to collaborate with such producers as Spaceghostpurrp, F1lthy, That’s Creep and many more. These collaborative projects were released on Soundcloud and Bandcamp while FRMNDS Co. prepares the final self produced project in the elemental quadrilogy, Gold and Air.
