The Weeknd’s “The Hills.” Tim morphs the hit single into an even darker tale of a reckless night of hard partying, titled
“The Pills.” He re-conceptualizes the Top 40 hit with the mantra of a rock star, showcasing his trademark crooning, weaving in drug-fueled imagery. Tim sets the scene vividly in a woozy haze. “
Never had this much fun on a Monday / I’m losing track of time / it’s only Sunday.” Retracing his steps while battling with his sobriety, with lines like
“I’m looking hella ratchet / need a hair cut / my phone on 2% but i’m so charged up.” It’s unapologetically witty and morose at the same time, but only Tim Vocals can make a combination like this work.
