A former cop/stripper – turned celebrity bodyguard – came forward in a recent interview with UK’s Daily Mail, to tell of why he was allegedly fired by Kanye West before the 2016 Met Gala on Monday, May 2nd. Steve Stanulis, 42, a bodyguard who has worked for such entertainment industry bigs as Leonardo DiCaprio and Alanis Morissette, says he was confused to learn he was no longer needed while on assignment for West and Kim Kardashian, just before the star-studded event. In the interview Stanulis recalls an encounter he believes resulted in his being ‘fired’, charging that West showed jealousy over a conversation he was having with Kim.
“I just wanted to make sure we were ready when they were ready,” He recounted. “I went up to the floor to the Presidential Suite [at the Waldorf]. I was walking, and the door was open. And I happened to see Kim. I thought I’d ask her or the other security or assistant if there was a change of plan. As I was walking up to Kim and the room, Kanye walked by. He came from around the corner and saw me walking toward the room.”
According to Stanulis, Ye began to ignore him, and within minutes the couple were gone. He had been told that they left without him, and that he wouldn’t be needed the next day. Sources from the West camp dispute the allegations, claiming that nobody has been hired from their security detail, and that the once NYPD officer, who moonlighted as a chippendales stripper, was only hired as a temporary guard. Everything “went very smoothly,” the insider reportedly told TMZ. But Stanulis appeared adamant about his accusation that his pardoning had to do with being perceived as a flirt, recalling West allegedly reacting to him handing Kim a package by saying “This isn’t right!” He adds that the two have had tension before, claiming he and West almost set it off when the rapper observed him engaging with Kim during New York Fashion Week in February.
