Tyrese had his day-one fans hyped up on social media early Monday [May 1], when he posted to Instagram with a clip from his breakthrough performance alongside Taraji P. Henson in 2001’s Baby Boy. Along with the visual was a message in its caption that read, “Sequel to Baby Boy coming soon… ..”
It was the second time in as many weeks that Black-Ty broke news about coming film, with him having posted, then deleted, a message confirming that a ninth installment of Fast and Furious is on its way, back on the 23rd of April. Fans of the Fast and Furious series, however, are still digesting the recently released The Fate of the Furious. Fans of Baby Boy, on the other hand, have been waiting 16 years for word as to whether he and Henson will link up again on the big screen.
Baby Boy, a film which was originally slated to star 2Pac, gave Tyrese an opportunity to cross over from his own music career, in the form of the character, Joseph “Jody” Summers. The film is a coming of age story of how Jody evolves from a mama’s boy to a family man while dealing with the trials that come with growing up in and around the hoods of Los Angeles. The snipped Ty posted is from the scene in which Yvette [Taraji] gets on Jody about his night at the strip club.
