Interview w/ MUBU Bubble Eye

Would you tell our viewers who you are and where you from?

I’m Bubble Eye… Mubu Gang artist from the east side of Chicago.

When did you start rapping and what got you in it? What/Who inspired you to start?

I’ve been rapping since a kid… I did talent shows in grammar school and always recorded myself on my radio. I was inspired by the young age rappers in the game at the time which were my age… such as bow or Soulja, I wasn’t listening to them or looking up to them lol. I was just inspired because it made me feel like I could do it too seeing that we were around the same age.

Flow Pattern or Lyrics, What do you put first?

Lyrics is always first to me…. then flow pattern which is most of the time based on the melody of the beat.

Being from a city like Chicago,  how do you manage to separate yourself from all the other rappers that are going hard right now?

I believe I separate myself by being in my own lane..a lot of rappers in Chicago make Drill music which I love and come from the start of the drill music era… but I also love lyrical music and bars, so I do something I like to call “ Drillyricism” …. which is the drill sound mixed with the lyrical content.

Last month, a list came out with the newest up and coming rappers from your city, what was the energy like from that list? What is your view on that whole “political” thing

The energy on the list was nice I must say and I applaud everybody who made the list, but me personally I feel as if I was snubbed and I’m very underrated and overlooked. But it’s politics… the whole political thing is crazy but it exist and will always exist, so I just use it as motivation to keep grinding and pushing…one day they will wake up and see… but the list was cool! Salute to those who are on there but I feel I should’ve been on it.

It’s clear you are a 420 fanatic and rep the Green culture  lol…Do you think weed helps or harms your rapping skills? What’s your take on that?

Weed helps my skills I think, honestly… it helps me chill and clear my mind. Helps me relax and vibe to the music… zone out… I just wish they LEGALIZE IT EVERYWHERE!! Lol….. but it’s definitely a part of my creating process.

Your single “Man Of The Night” is heating up. Tell us how that song came about

Man Of The Night is actually one of my favorite tracks! It came about just cooling with a couple of my buddies and we was indulging lol…. I started listening to the beat through my head phones but I felt great at the time…. I felt like the man of the night… so I took that and built around it… came up with a certified banger!

What can we expect from you in the near future? Fill us in with what’s going on around you right now

You can expect to see and hear a lot more from Bubble Eye, the grind is on full force right now! I have a EP dropping in late April titled “ Backwoods & Hennessy “ so be on the look out for that….. and as far as what’s going on around me, I see my friends and associates enjoying the fruits of life due to this music industry and I want in… I’m hungry but humble just waiting on my time to show the world who Bubbs truly is.

At the end, any advice for the other up-and-coming rappers reading this?

The best advice I can give is to NEVER STOP GRINDING…. you never know when it’s your time just keep pushing because one day it will happen!
